What This Category Covers

Leather work is its own trade.

Leather installation is something that requires practice and skills — we've been doing it for 20+ years. Every leather job in our shop, regardless of which path it takes, gets the same standard: factory-fit panels, hand-stitched seams, full re-integration of any heated/cooled/airbag systems.

We treat your car like ours. No shortcuts, no learning curve.

The three options below cover most leather and upholstery needs. The decision guide further down helps you pick. When in doubt, send us photos and a quick description — cars, trucks, RVs, boats, anything with upholstery — and we'll point you in the right direction before you commit.

Decision Guide

Which path is right for you?

If you want factory-looking leather from a recognized brand — 120+ catalog colors, airbag-certified...
Go with Katzkin Leather. Best value, fastest turnaround (most installs same business day), strongest manufacturer warranty. Subject to pattern availability for your year, make, and model.
If you've got a specific design in mind — leather grade, custom stitch patterns, anything outside a catalog...
Go with Custom Reupholstery. Material sourcing could take 3 days to 4 weeks, patterning and sewing 1–3 weeks. Full creative control.
If your existing leather is cracked, foam is sagging — but the bones are good...
Start with Seat Repair. Most issues we can repair instead of replace. Send photos and we'll quote both options so you can decide.
If you want vintage or restoration work on a classic car...
Custom Reupholstery is usually the right path — Katzkin's catalog doesn't cover most older or low-volume vehicles. Send photos of what you're working with.
If you've got an RV, boat, or other vehicle with upholstery...
Custom Reupholstery is the path — these don't have catalog kits. Send photos and we'll quote.
If you're not sure...
Send us your vehicle info and a few photos. We'll diagnose what you have, tell you what it'll take, and point you to the right path. No commitment.
What Goes Into Your Quote

Pricing depends on which path + your vehicle.

Each path has its own pricing factors — leather grade, customization level, vehicle complexity, add-ons like heated seats. We'll quote within one business day once we know what you're driving and what you want done.

Common Questions

What people ask across all three services.

How long does leather work take?
Katzkin: typically one business day for the install once the kit arrives (kits take 1–2 weeks from order). Custom Reupholstery: 3 days to 4 weeks for materials, 1–3 weeks for patterning and sewing. Seat Repair: most jobs same-day or 24–48 hours. We'll give you a tighter timeline when we quote.
Will any of these work with my heated seats / airbags?
Yes — across all three services, we fully re-integrate existing seat systems (heated elements, climate, side airbags). Everything functions exactly as it did from the factory. Standard expectation, not an upgrade.
What's the warranty difference?
Katzkin carries a 3-year / 36,000-mile manufacturer warranty on the leather itself. Custom Reupholstery carries our workmanship warranty plus material warranty from the supplier (varies). Seat Repair carries our workmanship warranty on the repair itself.
Can I add heated seats / cooled seats during a leather job?
Yes — that's actually the best time to add them. Bundle pricing applies because the seats are already apart. See Heated & Cooled Seats or Heated Seats for details.
Do you do work on classic / vintage cars?
Yes — Custom Reupholstery is typically the path for older vehicles. Katzkin's catalog doesn't always cover them.
Can you replace the carpet while you're doing the seats?
Yes. Carpet replacement during a leather job is a common add-on — the cabin is already opened up, so install cost drops significantly. Send us a note with what you have in mind and we'll quote your idea alongside the leather work.
