What It Is

Where Katzkin's catalog ends, custom begins.

Custom reupholstery starts where standard leather kits stop. If you've got a specific leather grade in mind, a stitch pattern you sketched on a napkin, a two-tone color combo nobody else makes — we cut, sew, and fit it with care. All patterned and sewn from scratch.

Leather is cut, sewn, and fitted — we take our time to make it look like a new vehicle.

Common reasons customers come to us for custom reupholstery instead of Katzkin: a color or grade we can't get from the catalog, a heritage or restoration build, a leather/Alcantara combination, or seats that need work beyond a standard kit (deep restorations, racing seats, classic vehicles, RVs, and boats). We'll talk through what you want, source the materials, and build it to spec.

Common Questions

What people ask before they commit.

How long does a custom build take?
Material sourcing can take 3 days to 4 weeks depending on what you want. Once materials are in, patterning and sewing typically take 1–3 weeks — depends on the number of pieces and the design. We'll give you a better timeline once we work through the designs and the quote.
Can you replace headliners?
Yes — usually takes two to three days. We can do fabric or Alcantara. Pricing depends on the vehicle (sunroof cutouts, trim complexity, and material chosen).
Can you do dashboards?
Yes — if your dashboard leather is bubbling or cracking, we can re-cover it. Depending on the vehicle, we'll pull the dash apart, fabricate a new leather cover, and reinstall it. Color and finish to your spec.
How is this different from Katzkin?
Katzkin is a catalog product — pre-cut leather kits engineered for your specific make and model in dozens of colors. Custom reupholstery is when you want something Katzkin doesn't offer — a non-catalog color, premium hide, custom pattern, or restoration work. Both are legit; pick based on what you actually want.
Will custom hold up as well as Katzkin?
Yes, when done right. We use automotive-grade thread, weather-tested materials, and the same install discipline as our Katzkin work. Workmanship is warranted — we stand behind every install. Material warranty depends on the supplier (we'll spec this in your quote).
Can you do older or classic vehicles?
Yes — that's actually a common reason for custom over Katzkin. Vintage, classic, or low-volume vehicles often don't have catalog kits available. Send us photos of your seats; we'll talk through restoration vs replacement.
What if I want both leather and Alcantara?
Combination builds are popular and we do them often. Common pattern: leather seat cushions and bolsters with Alcantara inserts on the wear surfaces (seat back centers). We'll mock up the design before cutting.
