Powered boards deploy automatically when you open the door, retract when you close it — so they're invisible at highway speed. Fixed boards are simpler, more rugged, and lower cost.

Powered vs. fixed — which is right for me?

Powered: cleaner look, full ground clearance for off-road, higher cost, more moving parts. Fixed: simpler, lower cost, always there, can affect ground clearance. If you take your truck off-road or want the cleanest highway look, powered. If it's a daily driver and budget matters more, fixed.

How long does the install take?

Fixed boards or nerf bars: 2–3 hours typically. Powered boards: same day possible including wiring and switch integration. Most jobs done same business day.

Will it work with my factory tow package?

Yes — running boards, nerf bars, and powered steps don't interfere with factory tow setups. If you have a hitch and powered boards together, we'll route the wiring to avoid any conflict.

What about warranty?

AMP Research carries one of the strongest warranties in the segment (typically lifetime on the board, multi-year on motors). Westin and other brands have solid manufacturer warranties. We add our workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's.

Will the powered boards work in cold weather?

Yes — both AMP and Westin powered boards are tested for cold-weather operation. Snow and ice can build up on the rails, so periodic cleaning is recommended in winter. The motors and mechanism handle PNW conditions reliably.
